After three years of crazy hoops, my Alaska practice (Alta Natural Medicine) is now officially in network with Aetna medical insurance!
Alaskans pay some of the highest insurance premiums in the country — and some of the highest rates for care. Becoming an in-network provider is one small step toward help Alaskans get more out of what they pay for.
why does this matter?
Becoming an in-network provider benefits patients for two main reasons. First, it means that an insurance company has reviewed a doctor’s records and deems them safe and competent. Second, it usually means lower rates for patients. Doctors agree to charge less, and the insurance company generally asks patients to pay a smaller amount for care.
An increasing number of doctors are ditching insurance, and a lot of the reasons are reasonable. Insurance has crazy hoops, limits how much doctors may charge (or discount) patients, and can interfere with care by denying some services or pushing others.
I want to help people use the coverage they have, which I why I kept pushing to get into the Aetna system.
As of August 2024, I’m now in network with:
- Aetna
- Beech Street
- First Choice
- Moda (Endeavor Select + Pioneer networks)
- Multiplan (Primary, Complementary, Auto and Workers’ Compensation networks)
- Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield (Global, Heritage, Legacy and Yukon networks)
